In Western Australia, there is no one-size-fits-all Coxswain ticket. One of the three types of Coxswain certification will be required, depending on the operational area of the vessel you want to operate.
What Do I Need to Do to Get a Skippers Ticket?
Step 1
The day of your Skippers Ticket Course will first start with a theory exam of 40 multiple-choice questions, with a pass mark of 34/40 required. A score of 30-33 will allow you to resit the paper should time permit, while a score less than 30 will require you to resit on another day. All of our skippers ticket course bookings come with the iiCAPTAIN App offering premium study tools so you can pass the Skippers Ticket theory first time!
Step 2
Upon passing your theory, you and our instructor will be able to go out on the water to complete practical training, preparing you for your assessment.
Step 3
When you are ready, you can complete the practical exam. The practical assessment consists of 62 elements showcasing how you can drive a boat. Should you fail, we are able to redo another skippers ticket exam on another date (DoT requirement).
Step 4
Once complete, we will be able to give you an interim Skippers Licence (WA Boating Licence)
